Community Nature Stations

Supporting Environmental Education in Our Communities

Nature on the Geaux occasionally participates in select public community events by providing a complimentary Community Nature Station.

These drop-in, event-style experiences are designed to add hands-on environmental education to events that align with our mission of connecting people with the natural world.

What Is a Community Nature Station?

Community Nature Stations are interactive educational booths where attendees can stop by throughout an event to explore, ask questions, and discover something new about the natural world.

Depending on the event and theme, a Nature Station may include:

  • Hands-on educational activities

  • Biofacts and natural objects

  • Interactive displays

  • Environmental education activities

  • Occasional animal ambassadors when appropriate

Community Nature Stations are designed for public, event-style settings where attendees visit throughout the event rather than participating in a scheduled group presentation.

What Types of Events Qualify?

Complimentary Community Nature Stations are reserved for a limited number of public community events with an environmental, conservation, nature, or science education focus.

Priority is typically given to events hosted by or in partnership with:

  • Museums and nature centers

  • Parks and recreation departments

  • Environmental and conservation organizations

  • Government agencies

  • Environmental nonprofits

  • Community science and nature education initiatives

Simply serving children or families does not automatically qualify an organization or event for a complimentary Community Nature Station.

Schools, childcare centers, camps, homeschool groups, Scout troops, youth organizations, and other groups looking for a program specifically for their participants are encouraged to explore our regular educational program options.

What Is Not Included?

Community Nature Stations are not complimentary versions of our regular paid programs.

They do not include:

  • Private presentations

  • Classroom programs

  • Assemblies

  • Scout programs

  • Camps or childcare programs

  • Scheduled programs for a specific group

  • Full Wildlife or Environmental Education Programs

Organizations interested in these experiences are welcome to explore our regular program options.

Availability

Community Nature Stations are offered on a very limited basis and are selected based on mission alignment, event format, location, scheduling, and available resources.

Meeting the general criteria does not guarantee participation.

Nature on the Geaux also offers paid educational booths and event experiences for festivals and community events that do not fall within the Community Nature Station criteria.
